The calendar is tightening for Brazil’s crypto providers, who must apply for authorization by Oct. 30, 2026. The date applies to filing. It does not apply to holding a license.

A Date With Limits

Providers know the day on which their applications are due, but they do not know the day on which decisions will arrive. Reviews can run well beyond the filing date, and the central bank sets its own pace. A firm that has filed on time should therefore expect to wait.

While The Wait Continues

Those who meet the date may keep serving customers in the meantime. This allows platforms to carry on while their applications are examined. It does not amount to approval, and being in the authorization process is not the same as being authorized.

What Happens At The Central Bank

The central bank is the licensing regulator, and it responds to the opening phase before the application can move on. A favorable response leads to a later phase that completes the full application. Until a license is granted, none is final.

The Rules That Set The Date

The detailed rules took effect on Feb. 2, 2026, and they identify intermediaries, custodians and brokers as the categories of provider.

The Content Of An Application

Filers include an independent audit report on anti-money-laundering and sanctions controls, produced by an auditor accredited by Brazil’s capital-markets authority. They commit to capital, governance and control standards and to regular reporting to the central bank, and they keep client assets separate from company funds.

The Rush At The End

Large exchanges filed late, with most requests landing between Oct. 20 and Oct. 27, 2026. Brazil is a major crypto market in Latin America, and the licensing process brings its exchanges under a single set of rules. For customers, knowing which platforms filed is practical, since filers remain inside the supervised market.

A Process Measured In Stages

Seen from the outside, the arrangement is orderly. A date marks the first requirement, a favorable response unlocks the next, and a grant from the central bank ends the sequence. Anything short of that final grant leaves a company in the middle of the process, however prepared it appears.

Nothing in the schedule changes the basic point: a date to apply is a date to apply, and a company becomes authorized only when the central bank decides it should be.
